Brief Opinions on the Grammy Awards

I watched approximately 15 minutes of last night's Grammy Awards. I turned on the TV just in time to catch Cee Lo Green. This delighted me since I quite love that song. It further delighted me because he was joined by Gwyneth Paltrow. And...well, it also confused me a little bit. I mean...puppets? Really? But I guess they were sort of going with a theme, considering Cee Lo's outfit:...was a recreation of the outfit that Elton John wore when he performed Crocodile Rock on The Muppet Show:
I love Cee Lo, I love/hate Gwyneth, and I love the Muppets. Are they three great tastes that taste great together? Or...not? There were puppets playing keyboards and drums. There were puppets singing backup vocals. Also, Gwyneth was wearing a jumpsuit thing with weird bright pink feather earrings. There was too much happening on the screen. I think my eyes bled a little.

And while I have not jumped on the Bieber train, I would have felt a little more comfortable if he'd won Best New Artist. Because it always makes me feel a little bit bad about myself when I haven't even heard of the person who wins. Also, can we all just agree that Florence and the Machine should have won? Have you listened to that album? Dog Days are Over is an anthem!

Also, can someone explain the difference between Song of the Year and Record of the Year? I mean...."record" doesn't mean the same thing as "album" - because there's another category for Album of the Year. So I don't get what Record of the Year is all about.

My final brief opinion is that I thought it was incredibly sweet when Katy Perry performed, and had footage from her wedding projected on the billowy curtains behind her. Awww, she's a newlywed and in lurve. Le sigh.

How did I miss it? I am so ashamed.

I hate Kerry Perry.

And I swear Cee-Lo forgot part of his lyrics. But I liked that performance.

I didn't watch, but I assume Cee Lo's arms are still disturbingly short. Like tiny, dangly, baby arms. (shudder)

I didn't even watch 15 seconds of the Grammys. I planned to, but it didn't happen. Can't believe I missed the muppet show.
