First of all, I want to say that I was both honored and horrified to be chosen as one of Karen's Blogs of the Week. Honored because I love Karen and it's so awesome to be recognized. Horrified because dude, I hardly ever update this stupid thing and my last post was about my mother-in-law's junk falling out of her body! Not exactly the type of post that would welcome and attract new readers. Sighhhhhhh.
But, it is what it is. If Karen's blog pointed you here, thank you so much for visiting!! I'll repost my "100 Things About Me" list from way back when I first started this blog (with a few changes). Because when you come to a new blog, you want to know how crazy and neurotic the writer is, right? Right.
Without further ado...
1. I am afraid of heights – especially heights over water.
2. Our first Christmas together, The Hubbs and I were so poor that our “gifts” had to be practical things we needed anyway. His gifts to me that year included a colander and a plunger.
3. When I was 19 years old, I dated a guy who was 35. I’d met him at ComicCon.
4. The first time I tried coffee was a night I was going to a concert and was physically exhausted. I needed to wake up, and thought coffee would do it. Knowing nothing of the coffee world, I ordered what sounded like a yummy drink that involved lots of chocolate and minty flavors…and a triple shot of espresso. I thought my heart was going to explode.
5. At age 9, after reading The Diary of Anne Frank, I decided that I needed to have a diary, too. I was an avid journal writer all during my teen years. I even named my diary, like Anne Frank did. Anne’s diary was named Kitty, if I remember correctly. Mine was Amanda. (I've since posted some diary entries here on the blog - check them out. They're hilarious and angsty!)
6. I met my husband in front of the LA County Museum of Art. We were there on a high school field trip.
7. When I was younger, I played the piano for 5 years, then switched to clarinet which I played for 2 years.
8. I’d like to learn to play the banjo.
9. I would like to be a doula. Childbirth fascinates me.
10. I never knew either of my grandfathers. Both died when my parents were young.
11. I have only ever had one cavity. I was devastated when I found out I needed a filling.
12. I used to have multiple earrings in each ear (7 on the left, 2 in the right). I took out all but one set to prove a point at church. I miss the rest of my earrings almost every day.
13. I think my husband is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met.
14. Sometimes I think I know more than him.
15. The first concert I went to was Morrissey in March of 1991. At the concert, I parked illegally and had my car towed away. I had to call my dad to come pick me up.
16. I sing in my car almost every single time I drive somewhere alone.
17. I think I sound fantastic.
18. When I was a kid, I had a reoccurring nightmare about a cow in a tree. It terrified me. I had the dream on and off until I was an adult. I didn’t stop having the nightmare until I got married.
19. I knew I wanted to marry Matt after our first real date.
20. I kissed Matt first.
21. I really hate watching TV in the dark.
22. I’ve never seen Titanic, nor do I particularly care to do so.
23. When I had to have a c-section with my first baby, I felt like a failure.
24. When I was able to have a regular vaginal birth with my second baby, I felt a sense of accomplishment like nothing I’ve ever known.
25. When they told me I had to have another c-section for baby #3, I actually felt a little relieved that I wasn’t going to have to go through all the hard work of labor.
26. I’ve never drank alcohol, and never done any illegal drugs. I did, however, try smoking cigarettes. I smoked my way through a pack of Marlborough Reds over a two month period, and decided that smoking was stupid.
27. I’ve always wanted to write a book, but when I realized how much work and dedication it would take, I realized my actual dream job wasn't to be an author, it was to be a lotto winner.
28. Being a lotto winner would be a lot easier if I actually played the lottery.
29. My favorite color is blue.
30. I think my favorite color is blue because it’s the color I look best in. I also love the color yellow, but I look sick when I wear it.
31. My favorite movie of all time is Singin’ in the Rain. But Clue is a very, very close second.
32. The first album I ever bought was Cyndi Lauper’s She’s So Unusual.
33. I like horror novels and scary stories.
34. The scariest story I’ve ever read is a children’s book called Taily-Po. My second grade teacher read it to us. It has stood out in my memory my entire life because it scared me so much. A coworker gave me a copy of the book for my birthday a few years ago after I told her the story. It’s still super scary. I almost can’t stand to read it. Almost.
35. When I was in high school, I had a framed picture of Steve Martin on my bedroom wall.
36. My first car was a maroon Honda Accord with no hubcaps.
37. My favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut. I haven’t read all his books, but I adore those I have read.

39. I was in the crowd shot of the music video for Stone Temple Pilot’s Wicked Garden.
40. I’m a messy person, but not a dirty person.
41. I’ve never broken a bone.
42. When I was 16, I had my tonsils out. I actually looked forward to it, thinking it meant lots of ice cream. But ice cream was too sweet, and too cold for my wounded throat.
43. I had Lasik surgery to correct my nearsightedness in 2006.
44. I wore navy blue Converse low tops to my senior prom.
45. My ultimate comfort food is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a big glass of chocolate milk.
46. I love watching America’s Funniest Home Videos.
47. I’ve been to the taping of 4 different TV shows: Arsenio Hall, Whose Line is It Anyway, Friends, and That 70’s Show.
48. I volunteered for the Perot campaign back in 1992.
49. Though I am Christian/LDS, I think Pagans have a good thing going.
50. When I was 5 years old, I stuck a button up my nose, thinking it was funny. It got stuck and I had to have it surgically removed. That was not a happy day.
51. I have a really great memory.
52. Because of my great memory, I hardly ever had to study when I was in school. If I heard it once in class, that was enough.
53. When I sleep, I almost always need to have my feet outside the covers.
54. In high school, I was voted “Most Memorable” in my senior class.
55. I love notebooks. I hoard them. Sadly, I also love them so much that I don’t want to “waste” them…which means I have lots of blank notebooks.
56. Gossiping has gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion.
57. It doesn’t stop me from gossiping.

60. I believe in ghosts.
61. I love gardening, even though I suck at it.
62. When we were shopping for houses, the house we ended up buying was the 3rd house we saw. I knew right away that it was meant to be ours. It felt like home.
63. When George W. Bush was determined to be President-elect back in 2000, I clearly remember saying that we’d end up going to war within the first year he was in office. I’m very sad that I was right.
64. When I was 10 years old, I was utterly obsessed with The Monkees. In particular, I was in love with Mickey Dolenz.
65. I bite my nails.
66. For my 30th birthday, I stopped biting my nails long enough that I was able to get my first and only manicure. I started biting my nails again 2 weeks later.
67. I love doing Tae Bo. But if no one else is around, I prefer Sweatin' to the Oldies.
68. I won’t ever go to the circus because I don’t support how they treat their animals.
69. I am also deathly afraid of clowns.
70. My grandmother collected hats. I thought that was awesome, so I started my own collection. In high school, I wore a hat almost every day.
71. I hardly ever balance my checkbook.
72. I don’t like being out in the sun.
73. I wear sunscreen every day.
74. I couldn’t stand eating raw tomatoes until my second pregnancy. Now I don’t mind them at all.
75. I can’t handle any movie or TV show with children in jeopardy. It upsets me on visceral level.
76. I have never owned a Barbie doll.
77. When I was 8 years old, I asked my mom if we could get a white toy poodle. Mom told me that if I really wanted one, I should pray for it. I did. One night during a rainstorm, a stray white poodle scratched at our door. We never found its owner. She was meant for me.
78. I have never doubted the power of prayer since then.
79. That poodle was attacked by two German shepherd a couple years later, as I looked on helplessly. She was torn to shreds.

82. My favorite character on Sesame Street is Grover.
83. I was on the tennis team my freshman year of high school.
84. I joined the tennis team because my dad was a tennis champ back in Minnesota, and I thought he could teach me how to be really good.
85. Dad never played tennis with me. Not even once.
86. My guilty pleasure snack involves eating peanut butter straight from the jar with a spoon, which I then dip in chocolate chips.
87. I always thought that when we were grown up, my sisters would be my best friends.
88. That hasn’t worked out the way I thought it would at all.
89. When I exercise, my face turns beet red and stays that way for a couple hours even after I cool down.
90. I can’t stand seafood, except for fish. Even then, I’m very picky about what type of fish I’ll eat.
91. I love the word Serendipity. I love how it sounds, and I love what it means.
92. That crappy movie with John Cusack almost ruined the word Serendipity for me.

Boy, number 56 hits home this weekend. But I am truly going to try to avoid #57. I think I've learned my lesson.
Ooh, I wanna know more about Kristina's weekend. :-)
I thought about being a doula. That whole unpredictable labor thing changed my mind.
I seriously thought I was the only person who did #86.
Couldn't agree more with #91 and #92.
For some reason, I feel like you're my long lost sister. I bite my nails, I love Morrissey, etc.
I just dropped by via Karen's blog. Fun list!
I've decided you WILL do the middle school cheer for me next time I see you. Get ready! :)
