My mom finally took pity on me. I am now one of her 35 friends on Facebook. So far her wall reads like this:
(Mom) joined Facebook.
(Mom) added 7 friends.
(Mom) added you and 27 other friends.
I believe she has signed onto Facebook approximately 3 times total. So...I really had no room griping about her not responding to my friend request. Sorry, Mom!
